Cognitive functions

The human brain is nothing but a giant processor of information. The information that enters the system not only helps in identifying a correct response, a course of action, it also modifies the connections within the brain to record and reuse this knowledge. The information is stored in the various connections between neurons, which form the basic processor of the brain. Instead of analyzing this mechanism in terms of connections, which is at very low level and not very clearly understood, we will analyze them in terms of mappings and represent information processing in the brain as a function that maps from one domain to another domain.

There are four types of mappings that is exhibited by brain, as first observed by Carl Jung. They are namely Sensing, Intuition, Thinking and Feeling.

Sensing: These contain mappings of the form details -> details | details -> result

Intuition: These contain mappings of the form pattern -> pattern

Thinking: Concept -> concept

Feeling: self, other people -> positive/negative feedback
